Mancel Brace
The lands adjoining Board Street indicate holdings under the names of Mansel Brace and J. W.Stirke
J. W. Stirke held at least 68 acres in two parcels Lot 81, and Lot 86.
Early Queensland Government records indicate that on 2nd April 1855 Moses Walmsley owned lot 81 with 107.8 acres. and William John Loudon in May 1854 owned Lot 86 with 89.6 acres
************************************************************************************
Mansel Brace on Lot 89 with 30 acres owned the lands west of Braun Street towards Bracken Ridge, and for those old enough to remember, the site of the first Kentucky Fried Chicken Store in Queensland, way back around 1978.
But more importantly sited on this land now is Sandgate State High School
The only school located in Deagon is Sandgate District State High School (opened in 1959). When Mr Pizzey officially opened it in 1961, he said the school, which had an elaborate man-made lake in its grounds, was one of the most attractive in Queensland.
It was opened in January 1959 but the first classes – five, A1, A2, B1, C1 and C2 were conducted in the Sandgate Town Hall, on the floor and on the stage, because the first school building (F block) was not yet ready for occupation.
From 1959, Sandgate High School was the secondary school for the new developments in Boondall, and then Bracken Ridge. Four Four Four of the Herron family attended Sandgate High School, as the family lived on a farm in Boondall.

The life of this Mansel Brace is one of desperation, and sadness, and indicative of the times.
He certainly was on the wrong side of the courts and known by the police in the Longreach region for many years.
